Mods to HL2, I was just wondering and was curious to see someone's ideas. So if you have any ideas please share them, don't worry I won't steal your ideas !!!

ok ok, I am currently working on a team who are making a terminator mod where you fight as either the machiens or humans in the future world shown at the start of the second film i believe. I dont know for sure i am just a modeler. BUT i do know we have a competent team and some lee way from the makers of the films. Which is nice.

So far we have done some machine models guns, annimations, Prefabs etc. Lots of stuff. Soon there will be a official web site with a loada info and pics. I will post it here first. :D
 
ME and a few mates are thinking about making a mod set in the Warhammer 40'000 universe where you take the role of an inquisitor an basically are able to go anywhere you want whenever you want but you will be given clues to follow. We are hoping to have RPG elements to it but its just an idea at the moment.
 
Could you make a mod of a released game or is that illegal. Or do the mods you make have to be completely original.
 
Erm you can ask for permision, which is what we did. They say they will let us do it, but they withhold the right to shut us down basicly. lol. If it comes to that we simply change the name and a few other things and its fine


other mods have done that in the past :D
 
not an actuall idea, but i hope mods start to take ideas from films, like it would be cool to have a car chase, followed by a shootout,

one of those where the gun is knocked out your hand,and is on the floor just out of reach,

would be fun

o btw, for the guy who is making a terminator mod, do you have permission to do that? because id assume that you would need some sort of approval from who ever made the movies.
 
Like i said, they are watching us lol. And if they do decide they dont want it we do what rollthedise said, change a few major things :D

Others have done it. so shall we :)
 
I asked Gabe a week or two ago if it would be possible (and legal) to transfer CS into the Source engine... He didn't respond. Odd.
 
well they converted half-life1 singleplayer into source as a test for how easy it is to convert mods,

just need to define the textures i think and then thats it

i have this realy great ides for a mod!

Basicaly you have one team of terrorists and they fight a team of counter terrorists with a veriety of modern weapons!
 
Okay so you all are saying if I made a Matrix mod with a title like, Take a Peak Into the Looking Glass to See How far the Rabbit Hole Goes : The Matrix, and it had original characters, new robotics, but followed the stroyline of the Matrix trillogy or had an orignal story could I be sued by the Wachowski Brothers?

I have multiple ideas for mods ranging from stories set in the Devil May Cry universe, to maybe a Gundam mod, or maybe a fast-paced Ninja game. Another mod idea that seems good is maybe a Speed Racer arcade/racing game. Those are some of my ideas, but I don't know the first thing about making a mod except conceiving storylines and characters.
 
has anyone played the opera mod? i would really like to see a game like that on hl2

Star Trek: Elite Forces II mod for HL2......it prolly would be better than the actual game....

Yes. But I don't think they would sue you because the Wachowski's like to play games and would understand your point of view.

God such crappy ideas. you people need to think harder if you want to make mods, not the same crappy CT vs T or WW2 mods... One guy had a truly great idea about spiders and making webs, I believe it's in the Valve info thread, more original stuff like that guys.
 
Make a mod where you can choose from a bunch of woodland creatures that like to terrorize the nearby city. Different animals could have different things they do and the physics of the Source engine would work really cool with that. You could be a squirrel in a tree and drops nuts on people or you could be a moose that goes around whacking people with it's rack and flipping over cars. Might even be able to somehow fit a plot in it, too. I don't know much about modding so I'm just throwing out the idea.
 
I don't think you should criticize peoples ideas, especially when we have heard none of yours, also to the other guy please don't turn this discussion into a porn mod thing, don't they have that DNF is better than HL2 discussion going on with porn talk in it.
 
I think it would be rather pointless to add it there now, since there is heavy disscussion here.
 
I'd like to see a time travel mod, where different servers are dedicated to different time periods and you travel through a vortex from one time to another (but in the background you are swapping from one server to another). Then you could carry out missions through time or chase people from one era to another.

Seriously tho the editing forums are there for a reason, for posts like this (which there have been many of). Dont think that because they are not the main focal point of most forum visitors, people wont take any notice - a few threads in there have had 1000+ viewings and around 100 replys.
 
Well so what if this is really meant for the editing boards, people are still replying and you seem to be the only one complaining.

Wait buddy, before you go telling people to shut up I wasn't even causing problems all I was doing was talking about mod ideas with people on the boards, until he came. So if I were you I'd shut up and mind f****ing buisness and read another topic.
