Seeing as i am going to buy Theif 3 soon (and im getting all exited about it :D ) i was wondering if someone could fill me in on the story, as i havent played Theif one or two (and i dont intend to seeing as the graphics are poo and tehif 3 is the same but better).

I know that you play as a character called garret, you rob places and you end up saving the world or something. but that is ALL i know and i wouldnt mind knowing what actually happens in the games, plus what sort of enemies you meet and how you spend money.

hell, if they sound too good i may evern buy one!!

thief 1 - brilliant. spoileda little by the zombies. slightly confusing plot involving hammerites and all sorts of quasi-medieval technology.

thief 2 - more of the same, gets better.

there's no real continuing story except garret likes to nick stuff.

my advise, buy Thief 1 and 2, play them through....then, and only then, play Thief 3. and let me know what you think of Thief 3 afterwards.

and btw, spell it right! it's Thief...not theif....

i have thief 2. And the story was you were a thief that would steal things......ok, i have theif 2, but i have no damn clue of the story. I got thief 3 today, and the cut scenes make absoultly no sense to me, but who cares, the game is awesome.

you can get them both real cheap...I suggest you pick 'em up if you don't care too much for graphics...

just yester day I completed thief2 so I was ready for thief3...and the graphics didn't bother me one bit, because the sound and gameplay makes up for it X 100.

damn.. i allways get my i's and e's mixed up... ;(

hmm, im considering getting one. would it matter if i got theif 2, and not thief 1?? is thief 1 that important?? And also, how long is it? coz if its 100 hours of gameplay im not even gonna touch it with a 100 foot pole...

I'd try playing Thief 1 or 2 before buying the third installment - it's not to everyones taste.

remember, "i before e except after c".

thief 1 & 2 aren't huge. if you go out tomorrow or on bank holiday, you could pick both of them up for around a tenner. if you play them solid, you'll have completed them both by the time thief 3 rolls around. definitely go out and get em. if you can only get one of them, i'd say go for thief 2.

Mr.Reak, there's no continuing story. as in, there's no plot link between thief 1, 2 & 3, apart from garret and his busy fingers, and some sort of evil machinations going on in the background.

As I said, there is, it is just not spelled out for you. When you get to keeper library in Thief 3, you will see a lot of thing there, how events in both games where signs of coming of Dark Age. While all three games start out with you stealing things for yourself, they always end up with keepers getting involved. There are characters who develop, and for example, Garrett who was in the end of Thief 2 is the same Garrett who is now in Thief 3, but different Garrett who was in Thief 1. Took him three games to develop in something he is now. The thing with these games is enormous attention to the details, and if you are not careful enough, you will miss out. Everything is linked in the end.

But I understand what you are saying, the game is more like Baldur’s Gate series, in telling a story. I mean each game had it’s own plot, but in the end, all three plots added together to epic proportions. I mean, in all three games (Baldur’s Gate), you were child of Bhaal, it is basically why you always got into troubles. I hope you see what I am saying.
