Anyone interested to make a mod based on the movie The Thing?

Does anyone want to help me make a mod for HL2 based on the old 70's movie The Thing? It'd be cool. In each game there would be one random person who would start out as the thing, and all the players have to figure out who is it before the thing can build a spaceship and escape. Multiple people can be infected, so you don't know who to trust! I need a coder first.
 
Hmmm... you're right.

How about Parasitic Infection or Demise of the Thing? Any ideas are welcome!

Yeah, there is a game on the Xbox and PS2 called The Thing, based off of the movie.

So am I going to get any help? :dozey:

The name is in no way near as important as the actual mod itself. You can't just say "Lets make a mod based off The Thing!!" because that tells us nothing, AND shows us that you aren't creative in the least.

I just suggest making your own ideas, and be influenced by The Thing if you'd like. Just don't steal the idea or make a copy of the game that came out last year.
 
Yeah? Well, what about the dawn of the dead mod? You hold out the mall and comlete the same objectives as they did in the old 80's movie. And this isn't a copy of the game. This is a chance to play the movie, not the game. There won't be all the other creatures and there will be more people instead of just a squad of 4. I guess I'm not going to get any help...

I fail to see where I mentioned that the Dawn of the Dead mod was any different?

Anyway, I hope you don't take anything I say as a personal attack, because it isn't. But the fact is, you have to really impress people with a cool, solid, and detailed idea if you want anyone to notice your mod, especially potential team members. What isn't making that easier is the 10,000 "new" mod ideas every single day-- and how they are all so similar, and lack any sort of ingenuity. Just look around this forum, and you'll see dozens of "Who wants to make a(n) Alien/Predator/The Thing/Counterstrike/cliché mod?" threads, and all of them are empty.

If you want to get into the modding community, you've gotta do one of two things. You can either come up with your own good, interesting mod with a unique style, and be devoted to it... Or, you can just use your skills at mapping, modelling or whatever, in an existing mod team that you like. :D
