Anyone into Ambient/Drone??

i liked it. drone is good. i wish i wasn't so lazy, and had forgotten to bring some things down to uni with, so that i could continue making horrible drone to work to.

thank you, im glad you enjoyed :)

That is terrible.

It seems silly that people are able to record their micro wave and call it music.

i can't see what's bad about it at all, or even terrible if we're going to be so blunt. did you two meatheads misread the part that said ambient and/or drone?

the drone will destroy you.

Meatheads? You do realize this is a Half-Life fan forum right?

Too uneventful of music in my opinion. But I guess if I were to listen to something ambient I wouldn't mind this. Also "drone" is a very negative name for a genre.

EDIT: okay after giving it a chance I think I could use this while I work. D:
EDIT2: okay it was just the first half of 03. Reminds me of one of the non-fighting areas in Fear 2.

this forum is full to the brim with ignorant, arrogant dumbass dickheads ready to spout off about nonsense at the flip of a coin. it's a great half-life site, but it's music, film and games sub-forums leave much to be desired. take a look at stormy's shithead answer about thinking that people who make music with instruments other than the lame-and-same or shit that's common to his little two dimensional world are silly. what the **** is that.

i don't see whats negative about the term, though. it's a descriptive style of playing, now used as a blanket term for such artists who utilizes the drone in such a fashion.

thank you for the possitive and negative replys. its not evryones cup of tea obviously. people who are not into the genres though should just not check in the first place. and if you think its bad? oh well i have labels who loved my music and are releasing cds. i imagine the two guys who dissed it most likely listen to mainstream pop shite or cheesey metal bands (which in all hounesty isnt real music, its manufactured to be catchy and enjoyable to the masses). i studyed music for two years at college and we spent most of out time learning about experimental forms of musical expression than we did commercial music which is made the the sole purpose of making money.

My point about the term is that "drone" itself has a negative connotation when heard. Kinda like "screech" or "shriek."

i don't see that at all, or the relevancy it has to... well, anything. should neither be a turn off nor a turn on.

So wait, we're ignorant if we don't like the music?

One sec, lemme get you a pedestal.

no, i was referring to ignorance within the forum itself, not specifically this thread.

but then someone claiming that music is silly if it's made by something like a microwave is pretty ignorant, even though it blatently wasn't in the first place.

I listen to and enjoy ambient music on occasion, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that "manufactured" music isn't "real" music, or that studying experimental music for two years in college in any way makes that music more "real" than other music. I attended an experimental electronic concert showcasing student composers at my university once and honestly didn't like/can't even remember most of it. The only one I remember is the shortwave radio song because it was slightly hilarious (the dude made us listen to it in the dark; guy sitting in front of me started laughing which was considered totally acceptable).

Anyways, if pop music is "enjoyable" to certain people, I think it's done its job as music, which should be something that people actually enjoy, otherwise why listen to it. I personally don't enjoy most pop music (actually I don't listen to the radio anymore so I don't even know any current pop music). I'm ok with things like criticizing people for not actually writing the songs they sing, or for singing completely out of tune in a live venue, but I wouldn't criticize music for being "enjoyable" because that's just silly.

p.s. Telling people who are not into the genre to "just not check in the first place" isn't exactly a good way to get more fans and/or get people to start liking it.

ill admit i kind off lashed out a bit,i generally like most music ranging from experimental to convensional. but a microwave? if your microwave sounds like that i would love to purchase one for my self.
