Anyone know how to add bullet penetration?

Anyone know how to add bullet penetration just like in Counter strike? So that the thickness of the material and the power of the projectile determines whether the bullet will penetrate?
 
Make each material have an ID, and dont stop the bullet dependant on ID and bullet power.

Of course, that probably translates to 1000 lines of code or something :D

Yeah, well lack of sparetime ain't a big problem in this place. :p
 
i have barely any modding experience so i have no idea how to do that.

Could some one make a bullet penetration mod?
 
When it comes to a fire fight your only concern is betwen the head and evrything else, I dont see anyone carefully aiming for the gap in someones clothes when they have an ak47 in their face. IMO it would be "dirt", that being it makes the game more realistic, but dosent add very much intrest to it.
 
Well, the original Gauss gun code from HL1 would be a good place to start. Have it so when a bullet hits a solid, traceline from the point up to a certain distance, and check for impact. I'm sure that's how they did it in CS.
