Apparently one distro has got it to work but thats using emulation and therefore has the potential to be a little bit dodgy.

And Valve are unable at the current time to release a Linux port because its not cost-effective and implimentation of Direct X on Linux is non existant.

You can play it on any distro if you got Cedega, it emulates DirectX so you can play DirectX games it's properly slower but it works.
