I got it and only was able to play for a minute before I had to leave. It seemed very much like the original. Did anyone play it significantly? Any noticeable differences?

Its on FilePlanet...i tried it..was okay..pretty avarage RTS. Nothing i would pay for..

Yes I don't like it that much. They act like it's such a genre defining RTS when in fact it's like a copy of Rise of Nations and Empires:Dawn of the Modern world. Everything in the game has been done before except the war planner (I think that hasn't been done yet).

The war planner was kinda neat. I think the coolest change is the actual usefulness of spies. It's hard to judge this on the single player demo, I think we need to see how it holds up in the multplayer, thats where it could shine.

I've never played any Empire Earth games, so I decided to give this one a go. I'm gonna play it now as I downloaded it yesterday. I just love the idea of going from spears to lazer guns! Now that's an advanced research tree.

It is pretty refreshing, in a lot of RTS's you go from archer with sling, to archer with arrows, to archer with flaming arrows, here you get to go from archer with rock spear to mechanized archer with laser sniper rifle! Just played through my second time on a harder difficulty and the AI is intense. it's all about diplomacy and spies, you can be friends for a set amount of time, then stop enemy unit production with your spies convert buildings and take them out from the inside.

I enjoyed the original. Nothing earth shattering, but it was a nice RTS. Had just enough uniqueness to stand out. In the few minutes I got to play the new one, it seemed very similar to the original.

How exactly do you implement the war planner? I forgot it was a feature and didn't stumble upon it. Is it menu based?

Secondly I thought there was some sort of citizen manager or something. Did anyone see this, or was this part of a different RTS?

Thanks.

I actually love this rts besides the memory leak.

One of the finest I must say.

It is not a copy cat.
PIP view? Where have I seen that before? RON dosn't touch the diplomacy options\Diplomacy AI. The territory system is MUCH diffrent than that of RONS.
The war planner is awesome.
The civilian manager :).
How you research Tech is also quite a bit diffrent than most RTS's. No longer is it pure resource base.

The gameplay is not the same as the oringals. It was made by those who created the expansion to Empire Earth.

It does have a learning curve though. One of the biggest things, which I personally love is how they made the game simplistic(for how many they have) while still having quite a bit of diffrent resources.

I could never play Age of Empires II(Didn't play the first), because it seemed like there were to many resources.

With this game, it has a ton but you never exactly have to get them all and there pretty easy to find.

The crowns are also a neat idea to.

The PIP can be one of the most usefuless features ever, you can see a battle while still be building guys, building your ecnomy, make sure there are no intruders coming on various points with it.

There right in the in-game interferance.

Spies are actually usefull.......

Get past its learning curve and its real fun.

To bad no games are just as super simplistic as starcraft, have totally diffrent races(I mean totally!!), and be very balance and offer a simple online play.

Empire Earth 2 hopefully wont use some gamespy shit. Very few games with gamespy ever have more than 3k plus people on. While Sc still gets up to 160k people on.

How can the sequal to a game copy games that came out after the original?

I downloaded the EE2 demo a few days ago. I like the game - probably because I was also a fan or the original.

But has anyone figured out how to rotate the damn camera? God do I hate in when you can't rotate the camera in an RTS!

Don't know about rotating it in a circle but use the middle mouse scroller to do it like in the oringal.

Still, the point is that it doesn't add many new features that have yet to be seen in a RTS. The game just doesn't stand out in the crowd is the point I was trying to make.

Then again.. Lets look at AOE3, alot people are looking at and I can say few ever looked at Empire Earth 2 around here.

We only know graphical thing about AOE3. It will include physics to make buildings break realistic. That is a graphical feature. We really know nothing of its gameplay. Yes people around here would easily say it will be great.

Empire Earth 2 has alot of its own features, you just have to look harder.
