Final Fantasy Online rules.

It is quite possibly the best game I've ever played. Teaming up with other people, building experience points, buying and selling items at auction...going on quests.

This game is FUN!!!! Hard to describe how fun it is, working with 3 or 4 other people to take down one creature, everyone casting spells at once, whacking on it with axes and katanas...and it is turning, facing each person individually, returning spells and throwing punches...then after the creature is defeated, items dropped can be either kept or bargained on and experience as well as gil (money) is equally shared automatically.

It is a very well done game...well thought out. Great sound effects and ambience. It's like a whole other world...much like any other MMORPG...but this one has the unique Final Fantasy touch.

This game comes HIGHLY recommended to any Final Fantasy fan.

Is it p2p? *stares angrily at SW: Galaxies and Planetside*

It's a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. I was watchin' my buddy playin' it, it actually seems alot more fun than SWG. As for Planetside, I played it since open beta and though it had potential, it was never realized.

I play it... lvl 21 Monk/ 10 Thief on Fairy server....

I agree... it is extremely fun. and yes it is P2P, and for all you poor sobs out there that complain when MMORPGS are p2p can just get over it. Its the way things are and the way they need to be, so just stop your bitching and deal with it.

What do you mean by p2p? I know it means peer to peer, but I don't know what it means in this context.

It also means pay to play, monthly fees. It sucks, but there's no other way they can keep those permanent servers up and pay for the bandwith.

Ohhhhhhh, thanks. P2p ain't bad then. I usually join clans in non-p2p games and end up chipping in for dedicated and teamspeak servers anyway.

The only thing I don't like about FFXI is that there are still multiple servers, just like SWG and PS. It would be tight if everyone who played FFXI played on the same server.

It would also be very laggy ^_^

Me wants! Me wants! Is there a trial out or something? *searches*

Not necessarily. The problem with setting up one central server is that obviously the people closer to the server would get better ping. But, if you set up a central server with high speed connections (I'm talkin' dedicated OC3's) to strategically scattered local access points, the pings would be much more even. Sony was considering setting up an infrastructure like this for SWG and possibly PS, but decided against it. It's obvious SOE is more concerned with making money than setting up a great gaming experience.

MMORPG's don't even require the low pings that FPSs do. You could get along fine with a 500ms ping in an online RPG.
