I've noticed lately that playing Call Of Duty, or multiplayer games similar to it, tend to get me worked up to a point where I'm swearing at the game/people in it. TBH, its a game and its no big deal, but when one persons pistol seems stronger/more accurate then an M16, I unleash a hail of "****ing cocksucking ******s" with my mic off. Last night, I got teamkilled for the eighth time, and while they said they didn't mean to and I said its all cool, I cursed them out afterward without realizing my mic was on.

Its pretty shameful how worked up I've been getting over these games and now I've decided to just sell and pickup something else. Problem is, I dunno what. I've gone into game stores a dozen times and nothing seems interesting anymore. Mind you, this is on Xbox 360, but is there anything you guys would recommend? A game I might've passed up because the box art/description sounded bland/crappy?

You need a game with actual balance and structured game design. Also one that isn't so stressful and high-tension. Something singleplayer or co-op. Have you played Gears of War 2? I'm not a huge fan of the series, but the co-op in that game is a lot of fun. Especially Horde mode. It might still be too tense, but it's probably worth a shot.

I love the horde mode co-op, kinda excited for Gears 3. Same goes for COD: Black Ops for the sole reason of that Zombie mode Treyarch did in W@W.

I was hoping for something with Singularity, but after a few hours, I had finished it already. Thats what most games seem to be now, a few hours of content thrown together real quick, with a story strung together by a non-sense chain of events that lasts 6-10 hours.

That's what the games industry is these days, all flash and no substance. You should look up some indie games, they're the ones that are actually doing interesting things. If you like physics and puzzle games you'd probably enjoy World of Goo.

Maybe something like Castle Crashers or N+? Perfect Dark?

I did love Perfect Dark on Nintendo 64, and a lot of good things about Castle Crashers. Wtf is N+ though?

If you want to curse like a sailor you should play Mario Kart. Are you looking just for MP or will SP games do? If SP I'd recommend Dead Rising (will have you cursing a lot though) or if you can get them cheap Mirror's Edge (short, fun, not great, worth €15 or less) or Alone in the Dark (lacks polish, can be frustrating, you will not enjoy the first few levels because they're crap but is actually a good game when you get to the park).

Rez HD. Pure gaming to remind you that gaming is great and that CoD sucks balls.

Team Fortress 2? Well balanced, no friendly fire, few hackers (in my experiences)...

I have no idea why I didn't think to recommend that! Favourite game ever.

WTF is going on in Rez? Watched a few trailers and I don't understand.

On console, no one plays. I have it and love it, but there just is a lack of people playing (and incentive to play tbh)

Loved Alone in the Dark. Used to spend forever just taking cars and burning the shit outta whatever was attacking. Played Dead Rising until it got boring, DR 2 might be fun, and I'm looking forward to Dead Space 2 as well.

Basically looking for shooters (FPS mainly) and racing games. I have Blur and Split Second, but for some reason I can play them for hours on end.

Perhaps I'm leaving my gaming phase? Games just don't seem to be fun anymore. I kinda want to get the first Mercenaries on PS2 as well as Wreckless:The Yakuza Missions. Shit looked dope on PS2, and I got the horrible abomination that was made for Xbox.

It's a simple shooter -target things on screen and take them down. The experience is almost peerless. If you haven't played Rez before and have a 360, you owe it to yourself to pick it up. Otherwise be damned to the pit of gaming philistines!

Perhaps I'm leaving my gaming phase?

Maybe time to try some other types of games? Current fps bore me to tears too.

Castle Crashers. Awesome. You get to swear at the people sat next to you instead while starting to question your own sanity.

I'm trying TC:Endwar as an RTS, but can't get the hang of it.And I always look for a good racing game, but a lot of them are boring. Is NFS:Shift any good?

I like those plane flying games (even somewhat liked HAWX, until I realized even the stealth bombers handled similar to the fighter jets.) Maybe I should grab Ace Combat (6?)

Is Rez a Arcade game?

EDIT: If I wanted a game where I'd question my sanity and swear at people next to me, I'd play MW2 offline multiplayer.

Sounds like you're just stuck in a genre to me. Personally, I've never stuck with a single genre and I can barely define my favorite because there are good types of games in all of them. I mean I never thought I'd get in to puzzle games, but then you have things like Braid and Lumines... which are just fantastic... and of course Portal.

I've been playing games for as long as I remember and, while some things got boring, there was always some other completely different style of game out there to get my attention.

OH and definitely do the TF2 thing. That game is truly timeless... and they really just never stop developing for it. So many achievements and so many unlockables and crap. It really adds to an already fun world with a bunch of official maps and a million more player-made maps.

You might enjoy Beautiful Katamari. That game is silly as hell.

Is Battlefield 2's SP rage inducing? I remember playing it and having fun on the orginal xbox, but i never go far. That BF3 thread has me feeling nastolgic.

All I've been playing is CSS and TF2 despite having all these games I bought on steam sales...and I complain to myself about being bored of my 2 games.

Got Mercenaries on PS2 today, game has aged pretty badly, but its still massive fun. Dicked around role playing an Allied convoy (3 UN humvees were cruising close together, so I joined them) and we got into a devastating gunfight with some NK troops and a tank.

Started re-playing Metro 2033, in Russian. Game is still the most incredible thing I've played.
