anzio freezes my comp

the map anzio, after a couple minutes of play, will either make my computer freeze or go back to the desktop with this error: Internal driver error in IDirect3DDevice9:: ()
i've tried reinstalling directx, i've done everything on the steam help page, i've done a reinstall/repair of windows, nothing has worked

Yeah I don't know why it would be doing that, but I'm well aware of Anzio being a real pig as far as the resources it uses. It lags for me sometimes as well, but never crashed my pc. Good luck! :cheers:

Have you updated everything, mainly the graphics card?

I have the same problem except I've never gotten the error message. I have almost the same specs too, 9600xt AMD 64 3000+, 1 gig of ram.

I get very low slideshow-esque fps followed by a crash with the last sound repeating usually.
Xp Pro SP2, 9800pro, AMD 3200+ (not 64 bit) 1 gig pc3200 ram, Asus A7N8X-E mobo.

Strangely enough I have 2ghz intel, 512 RAM and a 9600Xt and I get a stable 30-50

Defpotec22, I have like the exact same specs as you; and I do find anzio a hard use of resources, and I did crash with a repeating last sound once, on a 40 man server. However on a normal 20 man server, it is OK.
I think you should make sure ur ati driver is the new Catalyst one. Also go to video options-advanced and put the water detail on simple.
I think anzio is laggy basically because of the such high detail water.

Son of a b*tch anzio, dod source, its freezing my comp now too, it like replays same sound and sometimes it continues and it works good, but sometimes it freezes forcing me to restart, i had to restart 3 times in under 10 minutes, this game is BS, screw valve, screw steam i hate them.

Hah,fixed ALL stuttering, freezing, all that crap, turns out my gpu(s) were getting hotter than hell, that's what I get for OC'ing haha, yeah turned down texture to medium and put it down to 1280 x 1024 from 1600 x 1200 and now it works SO good, i just might play all day like last night. :-D I'd recommend looking into the GPU heat first, or CPU to fix the freezing.

i just tried playing anzio after verifying the game cache and the new steam 3, and this time i played normally for a couple minutes before the game slowed down dramatically and then went to a blue screen. had to restart, some sort of windows critical error
