August 12, 2004 - Media giant Warner Bros. today announced that it has acquired developer Monolith Productions, according to various news reports. Monolith, best known for its work on Tron 2.0, The Matrix Online, and the No One Lives Forever games, will now become part of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

The deal is expected to close on October 1. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment was recently established to actively develop and promote the company's video and computer game licenses. The division's senior vice president is Jason Hall, who co-founded Monolith in 1994. Hall was recruited to Warner Bros. during development of The Matrix Online.

No details have been revealed as to whether the acquisition will affect Monolith staffing or current projects, though clearly the acquisition is compatible with the two companies' cooperation on The Matrix Online. Monolith will retain its Kirkland, WA offices.

Yep - they are making F.E.A.R. (my 2nd most highly anticpated game of 2005 after S.T.A.L.K.E.R.)

OFP2 has been pushed back to Spring 2006...and its being made by Codemasters, not Monolith :)
