Comes out tomorrow, assuming tomorrow is tuesday which I think it is.

Can't wait to pick this one up...

I wish these companies would've come out with these special editions sooner. I already have the barebones Apocalypse Now and Blade Runner and then they finally start giving them the special edition treatment and I have to buy them again.

That's why I haven't bought either of the Kill Bills yet :P

Wasn't there a Apocalypse Now: Redux or something?

I own the Redux version ... but unfortunately I prefer the original. I haven't heard anything about this new DVD. Is it a new directors cut or just a special edition with both versions of the movie?

Yeah, Redux sucked. Original cut FTW. And I'm pretty sure it's a special edition with both cuts, some extra footage, and apparently a really badass commentary by Coppola.

I can't stand this. Just because DVD sales are slumping they have to introduce more editions with different features or--in the case of HD-DVD and Blu-ray--a whole new disc format!! This whole mentality has got to change and the sooner consumers realize it, the better.

That said, I would not get this disc. I have the original version and that is good enough for me, as with most DVDs.

I like Redux. Adds more scenes. I especially like the French mansion scene.

Yeah, I like Redux as well.

Sure it makes the movie a helluva lot longer, but it adds more to the story.

The French Mansion scene was a nice touch, imo.

im pissed the new dvd does not include the making of documentary Hearts of Darkness: a Filmmakers Apocalypse

I have both, original and Redux, so what the hell is on this one?

And I liked Redux, too. More movie for me to watch. :D

Tell me about it. I can barely resist "Special Editions". For instance I have the 3 versions of the Alien movies. I have all 4 on VHS, the legacy boxset on DVD and the Quadroligy.

I have the original version of Apocalypse Now on DVD (the best version imo), but I'm still tempted.

Just picked it up.

Also, buying any DVD at Circuit City gets you a free DVD sneak-peek at Snakes on a Plane!

the Blade Runner special edition is going to be AWESOME. i do not mind buying it again, i got my current copy used for like $5

Yeah, I've been holding off buying Bladerunner for the second directors cut. As much as I love the first directors cut I still haven't gotten around to seeing the original, my Blockbuster doesn't carry it and again I don't want to buy it because I'm waiting for the new one. One of my favorite movies though.

As far as Apocalypse Now, I don't think I'm gonna get this DVD either. The Redux version I have will hold me off until the HD versions of both come out.
