Hackers are starting to turn there attention toward the OSX platform.
The Good(For Apple)? Apple may be taking more of the market.
The Bad(For Apple)? Apple is struggling with this similar to what Microsoft was going through. Hackers may be realizing that OSX users think they're invulnerable and may be targeting them.

I doubt it's that serious. The inquirer just wants to get peoples attention. Hackers will only start looking at OSX when enough people are using it.

and apple has complete control over what hardware goes into their systems that use OSX, so they can implement a lot of safeguards that way too

I'm sorry, but apples clock is ticking in terms of hacker attacks, as they keep saying they are secure. If you walk around saying "I am inwincible", your going to get covered in liquid nitrogen (Its a law of physics apparently).
