Now this is absolutely retarded on Apple's part.
Essentially, Apple realized that they have jack shit in terms of web-browsing in terms of how many people actually use Safari that aren't on a Mac. They advertised the beta's and what-not, but nobody is biting (but for good reason!).
Then Apple had an epiphany.
They realized that a whole hell of a lot of people are running iTunes. iTunes comes bundled with the Apple Update utility...
Why, let's just push Safari down the Apple Update to anyone that has iTunes!
The CEO of Mozilla said it best... That's very borderline of it becoming malware by pushing unwanted software down people's throats. Of course you can just uncheck it, but think of the average user who doesn't know what the hell it is. The utility says they need an update so I guarantee that 8 or 9 times out of 10 that they will just hit OK without thinking.
