Gamespot has a new article it posted. Its about steam being to damn slow and having problems, so thier gonna update it with this provider called "Limelight" which is supposed to speed it up a notch. Now what really caught my attention was what Gabe said at the end of the article, heres a snippet

Though Valve did not reveal when Limelight would begin hosting Steam, it's a safe bet it will be soon. "With our current games generating more Internet usage each month than Italy's total online traffic, we know we have demanding customers. As we approach the [April] release of Half-Life 2, we are anticipating increased usage," said Newell.

Now could this mean that the April release is for certin? :|

with those brackets... do they mean that gamespot thinks gabe meant april, so they're inferring that, based off of best guess(like everyone else) ... or did he actually say april, with the brackets in the quote... usually the brackets are added in by an editor or something... at least, in historical docs they are... hmm and news papers... hmm and magaz--- *dies*

Lets hope they added it in with Gabe's permission..

common gabe you know you wanna tell us some more info, common :naughty:

Brackets in a news article nearly always mean that the writer is adding a word for clarity or changing the tense of a verb. I can almost guarantee that Gabe didn't say April. Personally, i think it was a pretty crappy thing for the author to do because it's essentially editorializing a news brief. Getting our hopes up, those bastards...

I hope Valve sues Crapspy for $$$!!! :D

For speculating on the release date..?

It's as Gossoon said, brackets indicate changes made by the editor of the article

No, not for speculating the release date. Those brackets are only really supposed to give 'known' information, or just filling in information that should be there. Like if a developer was talking about it's cool new game Super Killer, it might look like this:

Q: So, how is the development coming along?
A: It [Super Killer] has been a fairly easy game to develope. etc etc

Because he [Six Three] has absolutely no clue on when it [Half-Life 2] will be here [Shipping]
