It might need work but you certainly seem to be on the right track. Nice job

some crits:
the fingers need work, need to be more smooth.
Try using alpha-mapped planes for his hair, give it a 3d look. The face looks streach, sharphen it a bit, and you might want to add a bump-map or something.

Yeah need to up the res, especially on the face.

A lot of the wrinkles on the clothing doesn't make any sense and just looks too busy to add "detail"

The model it's self is great for what it is, it has a good sense of proportion and anatomy, there just isn't anything about it that makes me go "wow" He has very little life and character, like he was a background NPC.

But good job so far, especially for a practice model

2 things i just noticed. his thumb is too long (very minor), and a suggestion here, i think u shud make the things on his lower arms, shorter, so they dont sick into his upper, when its bent (i noticed this when looking at the posed render) i know this wud mean a little extra work on a new UVW Map, but if ur going to animate it, it wud b worth it.

the model looks nice so far but with that skin u put on (i know it w.i.p) makes it look more like a half life 1 model

Models looks great, but the skin is a bit dull, needs more lighting :)
