i have a hercules 9800pro 128mb. is it possible for me to put one of these bad boys on the top of it without totally destroying the card?

and also, does anyone know if its any good?

just get tha zalman vga cooler, with the option fan. im getting that to cool my asus 9800xt, temps with my default asus cooling (2 fans) is around 40-45 i think, i forgot, i think it was 48, with the zalman cooler, its around 38, i knwo it drops by 6degree C. but zalman is natorious for its heavy ass products, it has a 750gram cpu cooler when the recommmended weight on top of a cpu is 400, thats almost twice the weight man, i dont knwo u decide. they do state clearly (HANDLE WITH CARE WHEN MOVING) ZALMAN IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES.

for future reference, if u want to know if a product is good or bad,

all u have to do is go to yahoo, and search this way

"product name review" so "zalman ZM80C-HP review" and ull get about 3000000 sites that review the card, and i suggest book mark the top review sites, and just go to them from then on.

Yahoo is for nubs :)

google.com all the way

btw, what's wrong with your default cooling?

All these people with poor case cooling keep adding more and more cooling, in some cases noise, to their PC. sheesh
hehe jk!

Actually that Arctic cooling seems pretty good. It isn't a huge over weight heatsink pulling the card down. It isn't loud but rather silent and a good performer.
Looks similar to the new style on one of the Nvidia cards.
Price is reasonable for something that performs well, doesn't weigh a ton and is quiet.

Asus, what kind of VGA cooler do u recommend? 45C is to hot, im not risking my 505 dollars on that shit.

so if ur argument is weight, tell me what u would use, or what u use.

45C too hot?
laff

I've seen card temps perfectly acceptable beyond accepted CPU temps.
Stock cooler for me (ATI 9800 Pro) but having those 2 front case fans blow directly over the agp card is handy. ;)
If you have a stuffy case or inefficent air flow then I might consider a better fan/heatsink. The one on the XT is nice but so is this arctic one.

I've reached a new all time low (idle) for my CPU as well. 30C
Load is still around 38C (SLK800U oh yeah).
Maybe I should get a temp probe and see how my stock cooler on my radeon handles through some intense graphics proccessing. Would be interesting.

45c is not hot by any standard....i dont know where you saw that.

you dont need to worry about anything under 65c

I use stock cooling on my card, and I have two PCI slot fans right below the card to suck hot air out.. seems to keep the card pretty cool (no way to check the temps, though).. the air that exhausts out the back is pretty cool during load

come to think of it i will have 2 side fans blowing air into my case, 5 inches away frmo the vga, so that should be sufficient enough, if not i can always order zalman later, but i guess 45C max is a good temp, not so bad,

cool, but with the acrtic one would u have to take of the stock fan and the heatsinks on the top of the card?
