What do you think?

If they are dying, is it because many people have video game systems in their homes? Or is it too expensive (gas, quarters, etc.)? Dated video games at the arcades? Or maybe because most of the games at the arcades can be found in your own home console library? Is it because their nearest arcade is turning into a trashy, teen-smoker hangout?

So, how often do you go to the arcade? I make it only on rare occassions.

Yeah, something is murdering em :(

I'd say over priced, old games are the main cause
Honestly, do people still go to arcades to do anything but play DDR?

There aren't even any arcades for miles from my house :( so I can't even really visit any.

They are dieing, but I don't care. Over priced crappy games...hmmm I think I could do without those.

Only arcadish type places I go to are ones with computers and consoles :D

regular old shmo arcades are dieing. But they had these 3D arcades in new york city that I think are growing. New games, virtual reality stuff ect.

Coin operated arcades - old and busted

Playdium style arcades - new hotness

I played Silent Scope, and lost because the tracking was laggy

There's also Para Para Dance-something, which is pretty cool... DDR is much better though. I just got into it, it's so awesome :E

I go on rare occassions... and they're not even just arcades either... and, even then, it's just to play DDR anyway. :P

I just don't feel at home in them anymore - they don't feel like arcade's anymore....where's my pacman?? oh my i'm getting old :P

If i need an arcarde fix i just go play one of the 200 emulated MaMe games :)

Golden T arcade golf is quite successful. I've been playing it for years but that's because they are in every sports bar in my city

The nearest arcade to me (2 hour drive) has:
a) really bad/outdated games
b) really expensive, bad/outdated game
c really bad prizes (stuffed bears etc. . .)

so why should I bother?

and they wonder why they are going out of business.

I don't think I've ever actually gone to an arcade for the purpose of going to an arcade. If I've been in the mall or an amusement parks with some friends or something then we'll drop in, but other than that not much. Unless you're with friends to play the co-op games then it's just not fun, as the games aren't nearly as good as console/PC games and are a waste of money.

Actually, when I was in Vegas I went to the Gameworks there because it was "the worlds largest arcade," and that was cool. I spent most of the time on the worlds tallest indoor rock climbing wall that was also in there, it was freakin expensive to play the cool VR stuff.

last time i went to an arcade was when i went to brighton beach (fookin years ago). can't see the point nowadays. as everyone's said, overpriced and crap. i've yet to stumble accross a decent arcade with some classic machines, instead of the usual crazy taxi, house of the dead, virtua cop etc.

Yeah I think that the classic arcade is already dead.
But I do anticipate that there may be a rebirth with these technology-center type things you're starting to see pop up.
