Because, unlike TFC, I find when I use my mouse's scrollwheel it cycles through the available weapons. You see, in TFC I used my scrollwheel to fire both kinds of grenades.

If it does have grenades, does that mean I'll have to find an alternate method of throwing grenades?

No grenades.

Except for the demoman and his launchers.

You're joking, right!? THAT'S a CRUCIAL ELEMENT of Team Fortress!

No, no way, I don't believe you, I don't believe anyone here that there's no lovely delicious wonderful fantabudoozy grenades, no, no, no......

TFC and TF2 are different I'm afraid. The game works and plays very well without grenades in, it's pretty well balanced for a beta indeed. But as lucid says, no grenades. I don't miss them any more anyway, the game is busy enough as it is D:

No grenades.

It was something I was really iffy about, but I've accepted the change and kinda like it. There are times where there's just so much happening already that I shudder to think how much more chaotic it would be if people were throwing nades everywhere as well. One of the most aggravating things for me in TFC was walking into combat and getting blown up repeatedly by random explosions that were taking place everywhere. People would spam them incessantly, and while that may have made for a more hardcore experience, it wasn't what I considered fun.

Thank god there aren't any. Picture the games pace as it is, with 10-20 grenades at a time flying around you. Personally, the game is perfect how it is.

They had nades at first, but decided to take them out of the game and it works well. Demo man is the key if you're nade horny

Thank god there are no grenades in TF2. The second sequence of cp_dustbowl would never end.

The grenade spam and conc jumping and all that is what ruined TFC for me. :|

Actually, you're right about the grens, it's too much darling, too much (quote Edna Mode from Incredibles).

I always wondered how it was possible for the rounds in TFC Dustbowl to complete if the entrances were being spammed to high heaven.

But there are conc grenades IN TF2, I once saw a Scout jump up to the battlements in 2Fort. I know I'm right.

TFC was horrible with grenades. I could not see the fun in playing dustbowl when everybody threw nades into the entrance and made everybody go flying across the map. :|

Demomen can use sticky bombs for grenade jumps.

Its possible to double jump run the 2fort bridge now, you just have to know when to time the second bounce, I firmly believe there is just as much class skill as TFC, its just different, and more related to the specific class rather than the type of grenade, for instance the Medic now has an actual role, rather than a slow scout with a sexualy transmitted disease.

Scouts have the ability to double jump.

You mean, they jump normally, then can jump again whilst in the air, like Unreal Tournament?

Taofan- I am surprised you weren't flamed by the post (as no grenades has been beaten to death the past few weeks in all TF2 related forums)

However to sum up:

No grenades. While these might have been 'essential' in previous TF games not having grenades is 'essential' to the gameplay of TF2. Valve's reason is grenades homogenize the classes thus marginilizing the importance of cooperative teamplay. A lot of forum posters say it reduces spam, my opinion is it helps prevent solo playing hot shots which rack up lots of point but don't really seem to be playing the same game I am even though they are on my team (specifically conc jumping medics who are always on the offensive and never seem to care about healing teammates)

It can't be stressed enough.. TF2 is not TFC is not TF. The game has to stand on its own merits and on game design for its own unique gameplay. Hopefully its your kind of game. I am having a blast with TF2 (I will never go back to TFC) but if you don't like it no biggie you always have the older games to play that will never change.
