Argh! Monitor is driving me insane

Okay here is my problem, my monitor whenever displaying a image or background that is mostly white will emit this really high pitch whining which really annoys me, does anyone know why its doing this or how I shut it the hell up? It gets into your head - This is a brand new torture device.

Try turning down teh brightness and contrast settings, not sure really. It might break soon, but I'm not totally sure about that.

i had an old monitor that did that. i jsut hit it a few time and it stopped

Yeah well this one does it on and off and I think it may be dying.

It could be the monitor refresh rate and resolution, try different settings to see if it will stop.

I'd say it's on its way out but then again at work a brand new dell monitor made that annoying sound but it would go away after a few mins

My home monitor does that at 85hz, but not at 75. Full-white is loud, black is silent. It's very faint though.
