Art of Ascension promises to combine the features of an online RPG with the fast-paced action of an FPS. [br]

Taken off the official AoA webpage:
As you can see from the Stats Page most of the GDS functionality is done. Coming in the next few days will be experience points and leveling. That should be handled mostly server-side, so, the following client install should be good during that development.
To read more about this interesting concept, visit their website at this link.[br]
To download the Alpha, click here.

Has anyone tried this out before here? I'd like to know how it is before I tried it myself.

It is not good. I don't like it at all. It feels just like you are playing regular HL2 Deathmatch, and it seems like there is no point. You always have that hasslet to check how your player is doing in their website. I didn't notice anything notify me in game if my character went up or not.

I believe they are adding leveling in the next alpha. The concept of leveling up in a FPS is kind of exciting to me for some reason.

I think this mod will be good when they add what they say they will, i think they should of waited for the next alpha for the public release.

Uh, you should try out the Warcraft 3 and Superhero mods for CS(yes, I know, mods for a mod).

I might just love this mod. I'll wait for beta release.

Deus Ex?

Stats system is gonna get hacked if they let normal server admins use it.

I cant even play it. I put it in SourceMods and its in the list but it has no servers or no maps. Whats up with this? It sounds like a pretty good RPG but I cant even play a map to test it out. Anyone willing to help me?

Hey all, as I mentioned on the AoA homepage:

Only the Client has been made available for alpha test so far, so that means there's only one AoA server running right now. The press from Halflife2.net resulted in an unexpectedly large number of complaints yesterday when the server was taken down for development. The server should be ready for alpha testing by the end of the week, at which time more servers will be available.

Oh and as someone asked above, you can't load a map yourself, because it's multiplayer-only.
