Artifact on game

Hello everybody.I attached two pics in order to see the problem.The checkboxes appear on any light sourse.Has anyone seen it before?

My system
AMD 3200+
NVIDIA 6800GT
RAM 1G

those arent artifacts. artifacts are little white dots that might appear everywhere on your screen and it is caused by overheating of the video card.

I remember some one had this problem before, he chimed in saysing that he had just got a new(used) laptop and it just so happen to have HL2 on it, he gave it shot and these things where poping up on all sorts of things, turns out that that previous owner of the laptop had a pirated copy of hl2 installed... so.... go buy the damn game.

I have to agree, those checkboxes in NO WAY are artifacts caused by overheating hardware. They look more like some kind of debugging tool for programmers to me.
