I started up DOD:s then all of a sudden when i started playing models were stretched, walls were missing, just a complete mess. Now anthing that i do video card related looks like crap. Did my card just finally die on me? over heat?

I had the exact same problem. After some testing I came to a 95% sure inference that it was an overheating problem. (I would start up the computer after letting it cool down, and artifacts would be absent... but after 2 minutes they would appear)

I bought new cooling for it. (9800 pro) I bought Arctic Cooling. Things were just peachy. But then artifacts started AGAIN... Turns out I did a bad job of mounting. Remounted, and haven't had a problem since. :)

But i haven't had any over heating problems with my 9700 pro in about 3 years. Do i REALLY need to get a new cooling device for it or should i just get a new card? Is there anyway i can continue playing without it?

I'd get new cooling, although i would say that it is possible that the card may be coming to the end of its lifespan. Also, a good clean of the card might do it some good, make sure the fan is dust free etc.
