Does this just happen in movies or does it happen in real life: people asking complete strangers to a date. If I did find someone I liked I couldnt imagine asking them out before even ever talking to them, it would be really strange I think.
Here in Britain at my school that rearely ever happens, the usual way it happens is you get to know someone first and the relationship keeps developing until it can be counted as in some way "sexual" (that dosent mean bangin each other, just as in more than purely social), sometimes it is missed out completely.
Well thats how its been for the last five years, however now most people start going out with different years so im not sure how its going to change. Any thoughts?

you usually start off by askin her number, n when u need smeon to do it with, u know they are in ur phonebook lool

:) About 2 weeks ago, I met some girl from a city about ten minutes away from mines(Carson City). I talk to her on the phone occasionally and we've chilled like once.

Especially now with my Confidence-B-Gone ray....

muhaha etc etc.

I don't think things happen like they do in the films much...especially over here, since American films rarely if ever reflect British life.

I wish it did happen like it does in the movies, but it doesn't. I've found i only pull when im in that special humurous mood and im confident and it just happens... if i try and make it happen, i screw up. And im not usually in the great, sociable, mood i should be in to pull. I find that a real pain in the arse. :(

your gonna get nos

your gonna get people saying no more than they say yes

just dont let it affect you when some1 says no

when they say yes. then say no afterwards is worse

Ask out ugly girls, that way when they say no, you wont feel as bad :) Then when you have perfected your technique, go for the lookers ;)

I do it all the time. I ask them for their phone number though, not just, "Wanna go out on a date?" Its pretty tough but you feel on top of the world if they say yes! Girls are usually cool about it. I was surprised.

If only it was that simple...

At my school its like "omg you asked her out, omg u asked her out, as if, omg !!!! one oneone im telling the whole school regardles of if they want to know or not"
Last time this happend I was thirteen years old and I told my friends who i suposedly "liked", but didnt dare ask out, so they took it on themselves to do it for me. So I was walking to my next lesson perfectly innocently when I heard this shout from the window above me-
"******* sais no"
and there where like twenty people there desperate to see how I reacted, school is a bitch.
So after that my friends decided that she liked me really and once again asked her out for me, acutaly TEN times again. Luckily she loved bathing in all the attention and dindt mind much.

Im glad ive grown up finally, though evryone else hasnt

Surely being turned down by the ugliest people should be suggesting something to you?

its alot easier when you don't make such a damn big deal out of it!

it doesnt need to be a "date"... if you want to do something with someone, just ask 'em, its easier if you spend a while talking to them first too.

Well I'm guessing nobody really thought they could just walk up to someone and shout "Omgdz secks!", and everything would turn out peachy. :P

Yes, but sometimes its possible that a girl has forgotten that sex is all you're after.. or has the strange idea that you actually like them as a person!

Heh...What a crazy idea.
I don't generally mix with people outside the group of friends I go out with anyway, and if I do its not because I'm wanting to date someone...I have something of a rule that I won't go looking for love(Whatever you might take that to be;)) in clubs or other such places

Just pull a Jim Morrison and pass out and fall down a set of stairs, get some sympathy poon :P

Yeah but that was Jim Morrison... I'd shag Jim Morrison* and I'm straight.

*Alive or dead - I'm not fussy.

Find a girl who is in your class, who you see every day, who you're very close with, and who has a sister that is the coolest ever and who drives you guys around (unless you can drive). On top of that, make sure she's an amazing person.

Hard to find, perhaps? It wasn't too hard for me ;)

You don't ask a girl out. Your friend does it for you, not you.

*Says what she says in every one of these types of threads*

Just ask her out. :/

I hope you're lonely
Thats harsh, maybe you misunderstood what he is saying. I think he is implying that if someone says no then dont let it get to you since there are many many other people who will say yes instead.

Nah, seemed pretty obvious he was being very "macho" (for macho, read mysoginist) and just saying girls are good for one thing and being a real man and adding another notch to his belt and then moving on to the next. People like that annoy me. If it's a mutual feeling then fine.
If I misunderstood, then I'm terribly sorry. But I don't think I did.

Just don't get too friendly with them because then they start treating you like a friend...which is the worst possible situation anyone can be in. Right. Get to know her a little bit then ask the question.

This is all documented in my book "The gamers guide to getting girls". Pwn.

Page 1: "Don't immediately mention that you play lots of computer games/spend lots of time on the internet. On no account use 1337 speak to chat her up."

I'm guessing you had bad experience about the friend thing eh? :(

From both sides in fact...

Its kinda weird being the one saying "I Just want to be friends". I didn't just say it outright, I tried to be a little more knowing of what that would do but I just wanted to be friends with a girl and she misunderstood how I felt for her, and tried hard it seems to swing me around. She even outright told me how much she liked me, and although admitedly for a moment I considered it and it gave me a little buzz, I decided it would be for the best if we were just friends... ...However, as everybody knows things can never be the same afterwards. Its a shame because we were really becoming close friends, but now no matter how much I want to or try I just can't speak to her for very long. I've not seen her in ages, and the only contact I have with her is over MSN. Apparently she has a boyfriend now, and its a serious relationship....which I know it wouldn't have been with me.

I guess I don't have to tell you about the usual story of girl saying "I want to be friends"...since its basically the same for everybody :)

Well whatever he really meant, I think we should just take it as Fat Tony said :)

Try being on the otherside of the scale and have random chicks wander up and make out with you.

Belive it or not, I'm not kidding.

It doesn't count when you're sat inside a brothel.
