Aspect ratio problem!

Hello and thanks for reading.

I just installed HL2 from my old steam account on my new computer. The first thing I did when I started the game was go play in the settings. I have a 23' Wide Screen monitor, well its actually a HDTV with a DVI input. So in the video settings I saw an option for 16:9 and 16:10. I believe I checked the option for 16:9. The screen then went black and the TV, not the computer popped a message that this video mode was not supported.

The problem is I can't see to change it back, and when I exit the game and restart it saves the settings too. I know its working in the background, I can hear stuff and click blindly, but I am blind.

I was looking in config.cfg, but I didn't see anything that could help me.

Follow these steps:


Left-click on the Steam tray icon.
Select "Games".
Click on the "My Games" tab.
Right-click on the game that you want to activate the console of.
Select "Properties".
Click on the "General" tab.
Click on the "Set Launch Options" button.
Put in the window box: -width 640 -height 480
Click "OK"
Click "Close"

That might or might not allow you to see the game again. Change the ingame options to default and then remove those launch options.

With your help I got it to 4:3, but then decided to put this in the command options instead,

-width 1360 -height 768

even better!

put it on 16:9 and choose your resolution at the same time.
