Thanks to Renegade we can now play a great port of CS_assault on SOURCE!

I met him on cs source and helped him playtest it and the map is kick ass just as good as valves port!

It'll hold us over for a while... but it's not "just as good as valves port!" It doesn't have the same kind of polish as the official ports.

The brushwork is simple, there are some texture problems, I didn't see any hostages, the monitor at the CT base looks like it shouldn't be there, etc.

nope, no third party maps are legal since they were created with stole content.

but people use them regardless.
personaly I want to play it safe and just wait till release.

no idea really....

I posted on steampowered.com a couple days after cs:s was released, asking about the legality of custom maps.. and the answer I got (from the moderators at least) was it was pretty much considered illegal.

apparently Valve doesn't mind though, because one would think that they would have FP remove the files by now if they did.
