Assuming that Valve will unlock HL2 at midnight on the 15th....

......the time will be around 8am here in the UK, so I am faced with a conundrum, Do I get a good nights sleep and play from 8am onwards or do stay up til 8am then play for a bit then sleep?


Any other people from britain planning ahead?
 
I think the choice is quite obvious. Sleep then wake up at 8 and play your ass off.
 
No need falling asleep during the opening train ride :)
 
just be happy that you will be able to play it that day

Well, having a class the next day, and possibly a module exam that week, I think it's safe to say I'll sleep all day, wake up at midnight, play until class, get back from class, and play it until I finish it, or I pass out. Either way.
 
Why would it be at 12 AM? That's cool though, but I won't play HL2 until I get my new vid card.
 
HAHAHA i got uni, errrr :(, man i want to play, i been waiting for so long, since like april 2003 :(, but when i get home from uni, bang bang bang boom :D :) :cheers: :cheers:
 
yeh i've got uni that day, start at 12 finish at 5 :(

can play in the morning atleast :D
 
Well since I have waited quite a while for the bloody game to be released (along with most of you guys) I am off to London on the 16th for a 3 day visit (HIGHLY PISSED OFF I KNOW)
So I will probably play it as soon as it comes out then sleep on the train down !
 
If it does come out at 8am, I will be playing about 4pm once I get back from work.
 
OMFG! I simply must play it at 1 minute past midnight! I'm flying to a PST time zone, just so I can start playing it first!

FFS.
 
can some1 tell me the day and times it going to be out UK time plz?

im confused as i thought it was 6pm UK time? ty
 
I've been unemployed for a few months now. Looks like I'll be finally getting a job next week. Why dear God why?!?!?!?!?!
 
I've mailed Valve to ask whether they have a time in mind for the 16th. Will post answer if and when I get it.
 
I'm a collegestudent, so I'll play whenever I want :D I'm thinking about being a student for the rest of my life. Too bad stuff like food cost money. The society force people to get jobs. That sucks.
 
Skip school, go to the store, buy, home, play, die because I can't take it.

And food, who needs food?
 
If the game is released at midnight USA time us Brits will get it 6am on the 16th. :)

This is what i want to bring up.

It is been said they want a Sim. Worldwide release on the 16th so.....UK people should be able to play 12.00am on the 16th.

Aussies should get the game first...

Or am I wrong? Has this been discussed with Valve?

Nah they are going to release it in America on the 16th at 12AM and it will be released all over the world at the same time. So depending where you live it will be a different time of day but at the same instant of time. It means that if UK is 6 hours in front it will be around 6AM on the 16th. :naughty:
 
great... so i'll get HL2 at 11pm because I bought it from steam and not from a store....?
 
You will not be able to play untill it is unlocked no matter where you get it.(retail, steam etc.....)


You could have the retail game in your hands right now and it would be useless.

I'm pretty positive they're 8 hours behind (PST) => I think we get it 8am

It would like 10AM at here Finland so I´m at school till 14.

Then I go store called Bdog, get my copy of HL2, go home, install and play untill my stepmother yells at me! :D
 
So this means the game will be unlocked at 3AM EST... now I don't know what to do... sleep then play? or play then sleep? Agh.

If that would work the I'd set my country to USA to pay a lot less tax... but something tells me they might use credit cards to verify location.

But if stores can legally sell copies as it turns midnight on the 15th, there are gonna be a LOT of pissed off Australians who can't play it until midnight falls in the US. One way for Valve to get around this would be to just make it possible for retail versions to be unlocked, and let the timezone problem sort itself out. Of course, then Steam buyers are gonna scream their own variety of blue murder.

Lets face it, there's only one sure fire solution to make us all happy.

I've worked out i can pretty much have all of tuesday off then wednesday i have 3 lessons so im home at 1pm =D

Things always seem more amazing and intense when you're dead tired, though...
 
I get good laughs when people seem to think timezones are bending space around us and some country getting the before others. As said, different time of the day, same moment in time.

Well anyway I have school so I'm going to shake and speak funny words until I get to go home... Probably going to run for it.
 
Will online retailers ship HL2 as they get stock, as many did with San Andreas, even though retail stores were bound by contract not to sell before the street date? I really hope stock only gets shipped on the 16th, because i'd be crushed to find out a friend who has preordered online to be able to play the game before me, after buying it through Steam. I want to laugh in his face :(
 
I noticed a number of you mention a useless thing called SLEEP. Its HALF LIFE 2 ppl! Many of us have been waiting for this game for a very long time! I'll certainly play at least for a few hours into the morning :)

I'll sleep when I'm dead! I'll play it the second it unlocks. I have to work in the morning but who cares? :devil:
 
tbh, to say its an american release date, i'd say UK gets the best deal.

I mean midnight or 8am?! honestly.

Then again IFFFF i had college i'd prefer midnight :p

go to sleep than wake up and play
 
Go to bed, don't worry about the game. When the 16th comes, the game will unlock, and something will break causing Valve to work on a patch to fix. By the time you wake, everything will be fixed and ready to go already.
