Just thinking about getting one of those new 8800GTX. Has anyone got one of those and if so, are they worth getting?

Dont really want to waste my money if they arent worth getting, I know that they are ment to be good, just like to know what you guys think..

Wait till some more DX10 games out. Afterwards read the benchmarks.
Also, ATI supposedly is making a card faster than the 8800. So best to wait.

If you buy console. I don't think that one is coming to the PC. CoD4 should be though.

I'm waiting till Vista comes out, then I will be upgrading my entire system, Mobo, Processor and GPU.

Hopefully the RRP will come down when nvidia has a bit of competition

I think maybe uriel took the specs that you posted (the specs to be as such) as the specs of the pc you were saying you were getting rid of because it was crap, and as such made a sarcastic remark that it was crap (which obviously with those specs it wouldn't be), and joked that you should get a gateway instead. Or at least that's how it goes in my head, lol !

Why not wait for the ATI cards to come out? They're likely to be much better and have a much more competitive price than the GTX right now.
