Asus A7N8X-E deluxe and CPU OC.

guys i need some help. ive got an asus a7n8x-3 deluxe, and cant seem to find the fsb mhz for my cpu to OC my new xp2600+...all i can change is the voltage to my cpu and GPU. also i get the 11.5x and 12.5x or something. im a noob at that kind of thing, and all i know is it has something to do with timing. on my old mobo i could change the fsb for my xp2000+ to make it an xp2400+ ffs. anyone got any ideas, or has the same mobo????

i hear people OCing their xp2600+ tp make it a xp3200+ (using cooling) ffs.

any help would be great

fsb should be at 166 and multiplier should be at 12.5 by default - you will need to unlock the multiplier of your cpu so you will then be able to up the mutliplier to 13.5 via bios - but your system will not boot (or the speed will be dramatically decreased) if you do not first unlock the multiplier of the cpu first (wired socket mod)

lol, and how exactly do i do that then?? i tried the multiplier change when i got it, and i had 'file missing/corrupt' errors coming up everytime i booted up (it didnt even reach windows loading screen), so i changed it back and i it was fine.

so how exactly do i unlock the multiplier of the cpu first (wired socket mod???)?? is it in the bios (i think i saw something for the cpu but not too sure)???.

Some people would suggest upping your fsb to 200+ but for system performance it is best at 166 - so leave it alone.

Multiplier is locked via the CPU at 12.5 - to unlock it you need to either use silver paint to bridge connections on the top of the CPU, or use a wire to connect two pins on the bottom of the CPU - either procedure is risky and I wouldn't perform either, for the little bit of extra speed you would get you seriously just wouldn't notice anyway.

They had the AXP before they were locked.

There probably is a AUTO, set to MANUAL, setting in the bios for changing your FSB. btw
