Hi, I'm a Hungarian HL2 fan, and I've a very annoying problem with HL2. I have a 2,4GHz Celeron, VIA motherboard, 512 MB RAM, 125 GB HDD computer. When I installed HL2, I had a Sapphire Radeon 9200SE in it, which is an old card, however, the game was absolutely playable with it (no stuttering), yet with low-medium graphics settings. Recently, I've replaced with this card for an ASUS GeForce N6200 (256 MB internal memory, AGP 8x, w/o TurboCache). And HL2 started to stutter!! Gameplay is quite choppy now, no matter (!!!) what resolution and graphics settings I use. It stutters _to_the_same_extent_ at both 800x600 (settings all low) and 1024x768 (settings at Recommended, marked with asterisks). Since changes in resolution have virtually no effect on speed, and the game is significantly slower with the 6200 than with the much poorer 9200SE, I presume there is another problem.
I also tried more resource-sensitive Doom3 and FarCry games and they both ran perfectly (in contrast to the 9200SE with which both were slow 'slideshows'), so it is certainly not the card's problem.
All drivers (Nvidia forceware and VIA Hyperion motherboard - incl. AGP - drivers) are up-to-date.
Now, I'd like to ask you if there is a known issue or you have any ideas what the problem can be.
Thx in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!
