I need some help with a problem that has been plaging me since one of the more recent patches. Here's my story:

Half Life 2 came out for pre-order... So I jumped on that and ordered it so I could play CS:S. It ran like a dog, so I didn't play it much, but I had no problems with crashing at all.

Half Life 2 came out and I suffered from the "stuttering issues" that everyone on earth had, so I played it half way and gave up in frustration.

A few weeks later a patch came out that didn't fix the stuttering, but I finished HL2 despite this fact.

I got back onto CS:S which ran alot better, but I was getting horrible crashing in the middle of gameplay. Now Counterstrike that used to run with no problems is unplayable.

I love CS:S, but I now have to give it up because I can't stay in a server for more than a few rounds before I dump to desktop. I've reached the point that I want to submit a bug report to valve every time I crash... I hope they don't mind 10 bug reports from me per day.

Here are my specs...

AMD Athlon 3200 (non 64bit)
Asus Mobo (A7N8X)
512 DDR ram
ATI Radeon 9500 pro
Sound Blaster Live Audigy 2 ZS
80 gig Primary drive
400gig Raid secondary drives

I have tried the following to try to fix the problem:

Tried various video drivers
Lowered sound quality to Low
Dumpsize is set to 512000
Loaded the Miles Sound demo and put the redist files into every bin folder in my steam folder.
Completely uninstalled Steam and cleared every steam file off of my computer and reloaded it.

I'm posting this in the steampowered forums as well, but all they do there is complain about hitboxes that aren't broken and Auto-snipes that are also not broken.

how anoying is this problem

wouldn't be so bad if it had been like this all along, but i'ts only come up recently for me, shortly after the last update.

I've tried almost as many solutions - but with no error msg, no crash log (that i can find) and nothing listed with the event manager either (!*!&!^?$?+?*!^!%!), how the hell are you supposed to start methodically troubleshooting the problem?

this is supposed to be a fix:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=124792
but after being registered for a day and a half, i still can't reach this link - wtf!? and while i'm having a moan, i just gotta say, 'this whole steam arrangement sux butts'. notice Id haven't tried to infect our machines with any sh*te like that...

that feels better

now how about a fix for that last update?

What do you mean with shuttering? Low FPS? Turn down your videosettings. Also disable all other programs you are running. They might conflict with CS. These programs can include hardwaredrivers...
