ATI 9800XT 256MB Video Card ( drivers dont work?)

ive been hearin the the drivers for this card arent good, and dont work with certian games , like SOF2. is this true? the xt is crap? the drivers dont work?

Save yourself some money and buy a 9700Pro. The performance difference between the 9800 and the 9700 is NOT worth the price difference.

Buy a 9800 nonpro and flash it to pro/clock it to pro speeds.. That's what I did..

well if u buy a 9800xt u can overclock it to who knows 10000xt speeds, so nthing changes, basicly overclocking = simplifing the equation, 4/8 = 1/2, nothign changes. so for the sake of argument STOP ****ING SAYING BUY THIS MAKE IT INTO THAT!!!!!

It took me nearly 5 minutes to undertand the concept of that. Please, if you want people to undestand the slightest bit of your advice, use proper grammar lol.

Catalyst 3.8 and 3.9s had many compatibility issues, though most of them seemed to be solved in cat 3.10s.

yes i apologize for the poor writing, i am not a good essay writer, as u see this carries into my posts. my problem is not context but presentation in words, but my argument still stands, yes ive read a lot of posts saying that the 3.7s are the best, i actualy have a problem:

9800xt comes with newest drivers right?, so how do u put the 3.7s up? first is it available on line? and two how do u boot up xp without it automaticaly detecting new hardware and installing it, i cant cancel it cuss i dont see a cancel button, any help?

<3.7s dont have the features that the XT cards use.

It really depends...
Version 3.8 drivers I've had problems with running the applications that I run.
3.7/3.9 were great.
I'm getting some bad affects in BF42 with the 3.10 right now.

Test it, try it but don't complain. Find what works.
Some websites may still be hosting the version of drivers you are looking for.

im only goona be running hl2, cscz, cs and bf42, winamp, windows word, AIM and thats it, nothgine else,ohh not even that much. even less. what do u recommend, which drivesr? .7 .8 .9 .10

considering you put HL2 in the list I recommend using .13 lol

I would get .9 and .10 install files. Install .10 first and see if you have any problems. If so, uninstall and put .9 on.

ohh i c, hopefully they will be making it better no? no more driver problems, more features to utilize the power of the card, more better fuctions and for you ocers better ocing? hopefully 4.3 is as good as 3.7.

I stand by what I said, the argument being that a radeon 9800 is cheaper than a radeon 9800pro.(the difference is big where I live) Therefore by choosing that card, you save money. And stop yelling at me.

I'm not in canada, I'm in Norway. Besides, your the one talking about xt cards.
Caps Lock=yelling, atleast what it's used for on the internet. A 9800xt 256 is 700$ and a 9800pro 128 is 433$. Both sapphire cards. That is a big difference for me. And tests i've seen doesn't defend the 256 version of the 9800pro. ASUS 9800XT is 793$!

We make enough money, but things are unreasonably expensive here in this small and stupid country.
One of the worst things is prices on cars and fuel.
I don't have any recent examples, but i'll take one from '98 or something like that. And the taxes haven't gone down.
Jeep Grand Cherokee in Norway with taxes: 135059 US$
Taxes: 83025 US$
Same car in Sweden: 53301 US$
Taxes: 10676 US$
Im not sure if those are completely accurate, and they might seem insanenly high, but it is real...
Fuel for that car:
1 litre: 1 US$ (or something like that)
Don't know the cost in Sweden, but it is most likely lower.
I don't like this country...

Same here in finland... friday night movie ticket is 10€ (thats probably what.. 11, 12$ now) CDs cost 20€-30€, and yes everything is more expensive here, and we don't make more then you do.

hyenolie when u install XP it just installs some generic drivers wich are very easy to remove for the ATI/nvidia drivers or whatever

then u can surf (in very low gfx setting) for the best driver available.

And btw I understood what u said the first time I read it but I suck @ essays as well
