Some info on the 3.8 cat drivers and a little tidbit about hl2.

Personally I like the D3 look, it's in keeping with what you expect really and looks fine, I just don't think Tycho can handle the fact that all the previews of the single player portion have been pretty positive about the state of the gameplay.

Of course maybe he just doesn't want the vengence of a million and one HL2 fans baying for his blood for poking fun at Valve and the release date debacle.

So October 8th is the new Catalyst 3.8 release date. Hopefully we will have HL2 benchmark to test at that point on our own rigs.

Regardless the press will have it for sure, so we'll be seeing some new, truly optimized, performance results soon.

Why? There's no competition between the two. I don't expect people here that love hl2 to hate DOOM III. What is the point of having that? I'm sure people subscribed to this forum are also subscribed to doom 3 forums. No one should be dissing Doom3, their both going to be killer games.

Yeah man, benchmarking + tweaking for optimal performance until hl2 is about as good as it will get, unless a demo does come out..

Lol, yeah I think we're all just having a bit of fun (unlike Tycho who seems quite unremittently bitter about the whole thing TBH, although I guess that's what he does).

Back on topic - is there a release date set for the 3.8 drivers? I'm having some slight difficulty with 3.7 and RTCW:ET.

Wow, it's great that ATI actually had some discussion with their users, as I have yet to find an email of customer service that isn't the webmaster's. This is particularly true when stereoscopic was all the rage...

i love ATi, in Americas Army - everything set on ultra high, detailed anything i can crank.. AA and AF turned on (2x 8x) at 1024x738 i get steady 60 ping during movement. 80 at other times.
