I need some opinions and help for ATI drivers. I'm currently using the alternative Omega drivers for my Radeon x1950. I want to use the ATI drivers because I want to see if it helps the performance in this one game I'm beta testing. However, I've tried it before and with certain games like TF2, my performance is horrible compared to the Omega drivers.

Not to mention, every time I install ATI drivers, I always have the issue of everything on my computer running super slow. I click the start button, and it takes like 3 seconds to open up. Same for any other thing like that when navigating explorer.exe

Really frustrating. One thing I did was to disble fast write and that stopped that issue, but still have the performance issues in games like TF2.

When you install ATI drivers, are you using their Catalyst Control panel?
Use ATI Tray Tools (3rd party program) instead and just the ATI driver.

Oh, I wasn't aware ATI tools lets me change graphical settings... I only use it currently for temperature readings and fan control.

I'm going to try that. Thanks Asus!

When you install the newest driver it should let you uncheck the box for Cat. Control Center. It seems to be sorta slow otherwise. If you already have CCC installed, uninstall it.
