they say use x800xt for hl2 and the equivalent of it for doom3, i dont kown what card it is. but its not inportant.

i will have a x800xt to run with a good system. my question is, for general knowledge.

how bad will the equivalent card to the x800xt run hl2 at and visea versa, for doom3,

ok lets say, teh x800xt gets a score of 100fps, teh top fo the line, and the 9800xt gets a score of lets say 80fps, to put things into perspective for you guys.

for hl2 what will teh x800xt equivalent get. and what will the opposite be for the x800xt in doom3,

i know their both the top fo the line cards, but i just want a performance comparison, obviously the game is not out and dont start bashing me like a fagg homo, all replys wil lobviously be taken with a grain of salt.

this is one of those, if mark is in the middle and mary is 3 feet taller than joan who is 3 feet shorter than pam is is 4 inches bigge than mark, who is the tallest.

u get the idea, so start posting.

they wont run any less. hl2 wont run any less on the 6800(nvidias card) and d3 wont run any less on the x800. its just marketing bullshit.

you really think? obviously doom3 and nvidia have a parthership as does valve and ati, proffits split what ever it may be, u really think its all 100% bullshit without any facts behind thier saying "WE Recommend this.... for this game" is there not even a little truth be hind it? i dont want you guys to get off topic here but u really think so?

guinny, it's a FACT that OpenGL runs better on nVidia cards. And D3D runs better on ATi cards.

Therefore, D3 (OpenGL) WILL run better on top of the line nVidia cards, when you compare it to the ATi equivalent.
On the flip side, HL2 (D3D) will run better on ATi cards than nVidia cards in HL2.

I sorta already answered this question to ya. ;)
But we shall find out in due time.

Pure guessing.
Nvidia can proccess multiple lights much better normally, especially in DX9.
ATI does an extra light (stencil) operation when AA is enabled which then equals the amount Nvidia can handle. SM3.0 isn't in OpenGL and lights in D3 are actually pretty simple.
I think Nvidia will be ahead similar to Farcry but on different terms. Basicly the same idea though. A little ahead under normal Res but pretty close to tied with AA/AF.

HL2 should have many texture and PS2.0 effects. ATI execls at those.
Then add AA/AF into the mix. Though still, the 6800 should do very well.

Though the 6800GT 16 pipeline vs X800Pro 12 pipeline throws an odd ball into the mix.

It's a good thing we have Asus here to provide all the technical details that most of us (by most I mean me..) are too lazy to type out

all im saying is most of us here dont understand half of the technical shit asus says, but anyway hes good to ahve around for the stpuid questions too.

hehe i konw u already answered, i thought it would be a good forum thingy to get many ideas,

as u see i told you how its more of a broader question than "how many fps will my x800xt get?", so im interested in what people think. dont get me wronge, ur explanations are probably more credible than most of the peoples here, so yes we do love you.

NOW GIVE UP THAT ASS!!!!!!!!!
ok now im totaly off topic here, as for me,

i dont konw how much less 1 card will do than the other in the other game, if i did i wouldnt post, i dont even have ag uess, so its interesting what actually happens.

oh no ill lose 4 fps in d3 with my x800 XT PE, maybe i should buy another 500 card to get that extra 4 fps back...

hey guinny were actualy trying to determine practicaly if teh two cards are really that far apart from eachother in technology. please no stupid comments. i actauly read replys, i dont need to waste my time.

lol waste your time? if u look past your own stubborness you'd see im trying to tell you a fact. there is no big gap difference. unlike u ive read a dozen reviews and benchmarks and read up on the cards. so when im telling u theres not a big difference, maybe a few fps, believe me. and im 100% asus and any other techie here would agree with me.

Guinny's right.
The 6800 will probably run Doom 3 a little better than the x800, but the x800 will probably run HL2 a bit better than the 6800. It won't be much of a difference though. Only a few FPS.

Seriously, SHUT UP...Jesus christ...

what i have done lately is wait for a good review from a reliable source that uses the actual game i play as a test, then what ever card does the best at what i set my computer at, thats what i get. for some people they want all the eye candy on / some want 100 fps no matter what, some want both.
when you get right down to it its your $$$ not anyones elses here. wait until someone publishes a good review that matches your situtation then go for it, all the rest is Bu**s**t.
