Hey all, just wondering about a few things. any help will be much appreciated.

1. is the mentioned card any good for running HL2 and CS:S? What cards are good in a laptop?

2. Would you recommend intel duo core processors? How are they different to celeron M processors? If not recommended then which processors are best for laptops?

3. How does the mentioned card compare to a crappy NVidea 440 mx? I'm only looking for something equivelant or a little better.

Cheers again

1.ive never heard of the x1400 but i would guess its around the speed of the x1300 which is not great but will run hl2 and cs:s on high settings

2.i would recommend dual core for desktop and pentium m for laptop since pentium m uses less battery power but dual core is good is your always plugged in

3.many generations ahead of geforce 4mx dont even go near a card that has mx on it

Hey...I'm upgrading from that (suprised it lasted this long)

forget about battery power for a sec. which processor is faster:
1.66GHz Dual Core or 1.66GHz pentium M.

What can I expect from HL2 and CS:S from this system:

1.66GHz Dual core processor
256Mb radeon mobility x1400
80 Gb hard drive
1Gb RAM
2mb L2 Cache
667 MHz FSB

will this be acceptable. I'm not looking for the very highest of settings, I just want to be able to run the game with minimal slowdown (Mainly garrysmod and CS:S)
cheers again

HL2 runs fine on medium + some high settings on my P4 2.6ghz 512mb Mobility Radeon 9600, so that will run HL2 easily...

What about a geforce go 7400 256Mb? better or worse than the radeon?

ive heard the x1400 is better than the 7400 marginally. theyre about the same specwise.

same results from both on HL2 and CSS tho right?

cheers for the info guys

yeh, dude jus get the X1400. you will like the way it plays HL2

isnt the video card the most important part of running half-life 2. cuz i have a geforce fx 5500 oc. it runs fine on low, even with a p3 1ghz and a 256mb ram stick.

hhhhhhm but again i doupt the proccessor has that much to do with hl2 or any source game. i think modern games were desighned around the video card more than the proccessor. o and thegrayman, that should run pretty nicely, specially since ur not taking all the graphics too high, or looking to.
