Hey there peeps,

Could anybody suggest some help here? I have had no real problems with Half-Life 2, apart from the standard 1334 error which I miracously managed to resolve. But everytime I start up HL2 it tells me to update my graphics drivers for my ATI Radeon 9600 Pro graphics card. No probs - or so i thought!

I initally tried to upgrade my graphics driver by downloading the correct software from ATI. However I received an "INF Error: graphics driver not found", looking into this further I found that this was a common error, which had a 'HOTFIX' on the ATI website - however when I tried to use this to update my graphics driver, I had no luck either, receiving the message "Installation cannot proceed as the appropriate hardware or software cannot be found to continue this installation', in other words it can't find the old driver to update - has anyone else experienced this problem with their ATI graphics card? If so, what did you do to solve it? Anybody got any ideas about how I can update my drivers, or even if I should bother?!!

Secondly, I'm pretty dumb here - what is the advantage of playing HL2 offline, and how do you play the game offline? I can't seem to figure it out? i've exited Steam, and then started the game, but that just logs you into Steam again? Do I have to tick the box, which means it doesn't save my information, to play offline? Answer would be gratefully received!

Many thanks guys & gals.

Cheers. :dozey:

You have to go into Device Manager in Windows and in the properties for the Radeon, update driver...they should show as having a problem. Reboot after Windows finds the driver automatically. For offline mode you have to set HL2 properties to "Do not automatically update this game" after your CD key has been verified and offline mode shows as avalable.
