ATI roadmap

Awesome find, thanks a ton! Interesting, the XL version of the R520 is coming out before the XT version.

will the
XL or XT be better?
I hope XL, I would rather not wait till october.

The XL is probably going to be slower but not by much. If you noticed how the X800XL vs X800XT was.
I think they are doing what Nvidia did. 6800GTX first and 6800Ultra later...same thing here. XL then XT.

It will be good enough for ya. ;) Just wait for the benchies.

Thanks for the link Asus. Totally waiting for a mean crossfire setup. That will hopefully do me for a year or so! Just need those benchmarks!

wait, so when they say "launch date" what exactly do they mean? they said expect retail availability in november, so does that mean im going to have to wait until november to go to my local best buy and pick up even the R520 XL, even tho its being released in september?

Probably for market saturation. I would hope it would be in stores before then too.

im was waiting to get a new computer until ati released there new cards so prices would drop on all cards, or pick up the R520 because i get a massive discount from bestbuy. This really screws with my plans.

RV530

* 600MHz Core Clock
* 1400MHz Memory Clock
* 512MB Maximum Memory for "XT"
* 256MB Maximum Memory for "Pro"
* 128-bit Memory
* 12 Pipelines
* Maximum 16x32MB 1.4ns GDDR3

Is it just me or is that very low for a next gen card?

Thats not mainly next-gen thats lower quality next-gen.
They havn't givin any specs of the 520 which is there next gen.
R515 and R530 are the mid\low range.

Oh, what about the one that has 4 pipelines? Even for a low range next gen card thats damn low.

Im not sure on specifics or remember where I read it but ATI's new cards are going to use a unified shader model so Pixel shaders and Vertex shaders are not seperate or at least there resources will be pooled. They said something about pixelpipelines will be counted differently. I would have to do some more research on it.

I suspect the 12pipeline will be something like the 200-250 price point replacing the x700 and the other 4 pipeline card would replace the X300 I would think.

I was looking at some of the info for ATI's crossfire setup, and just realized you can only use 2 cards of the same series (x800, x850). For some reason I thought you could use any 2 cards, as long as one of em was the Crossfire master one or whatever. bahumbug :( Oh well I'm sure my x800xl will hold me over till the r520 comes out. Best Buy discount rules :D
