System:
Proc: Intel P4 640 3.2.GHz 2MB L2 Cache
MoBo: Asus 925XE w/DDr2 slots
Memory:Corsair (ValueRam) 1Gb DDR2 SDRAM (2x1GB) 240 PIN 667 (PC5300)
Graphic Card:ATI X800XL 256MB PCI-Express
XP Professional
PSU: Antec Neopower 480W

Does this card require the special PCI-express aux power cable which came with my Antec Neopower supply. I ordered OEM, so no manual and I cannot find info on Radeon Homepage. Card fit into PCIe slot fine, but i'm just connecting all the power cables up (I'll look over card again to see if I see a connection)

It will be at the opposite end to the output ports on the card if there is one there. I have just looked at pictures of the card and there doesn't appear to be one on there, but best to check anyway.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. I ordered the same card (but haven't installed it yet), and remember reading a few reviews saying it was nice that the card didn't need additional power. So that leads me to believe it only uses the Motherboard power (through the PCI slot).

Sorry I can't give you anything concrete, but I hope it helps anyway.

u only need one molex connector connected to the x800xl so it shouldnt be a problem but make sure its connected only to it and not split with a y splitter

PCI Express cards have a special power input socket - the plug for this comes with most new PSU's - but if all you have are Molex (standard white 4-pin) connectors, the adapter to plug a molex into your graphics card will come with the card. AGP cards simply have molex power sockets.

Here's some concrete info (finally found a decent source):

"What is most noticeable is that this card does not require any external power connections at all. It completely operates off of the PCI-Express bus for power. Compare this to the one Molex power connector the AGP X800Pro needs, or the 6-plug PCI-Express power connector a GeForce 6800GT PCI-E requires. Keep in mind that the PCI-Express slot is capable of delivering 75 watts of power on its own, far outpacing what could be provided by an AGP slot."

Hope that helps.

DSDchemE is correct

I thought because the Antec Neopwer 480W PSU came with a special connector for PCIe cards, it would need it, but I see no where to plug it in. I haven't booted system yet because I'm waiting for new HD, but I think DSDchemE is correct and X800XL will not need Power cable. :upstare:

Yeah, if there's nowhere to plug it in then it will draw its power straight crom the PCI-Express rails ... awesome stuff.
