Undercover: Dual Motives (for adventure fans/DS fans!!!)

A very pretty and promising little adventure game called Undercover: Operation Wintersun (preview) is coming to the PC next year, but along with it comes a prequel for the DS called Undercover: Dual Motives. Have a read:
Coinciding with the PC release of Undercover: Operation Wintersun in Germany, publisher ANACONDA has announced plans of a new Undercover adventure for the Nintendo DS.

Entitled Undercover: Dual Motives, the new game will be a prequel to the current WWII-themed PC adventure, putting players back in the role of physicist-turned-spy Dr. John Russell. This time around, Russell will be investigating a British research facility with the help of a second playable character named Audrey, the secretary of the facility's director.

The two screens of the DS will be used to coordinate the investigation of the two protagonists. According to today's announcement, "working separately, the player is in control of one of them at a time, directing them via the touchscreen and stylus. The other screen displays the currently inactive character, which he can switch over to at any time. The challenge: cleverly using the individual abilities of the two different characters in order to solve the game's logical puzzles — even if they are in different rooms."

ANACONDA plans to release Undercover: Dual Motives worldwide, beginning in German-speaking territories in March '07, with localized releases to follow.

Screens here. (That last one may be concept art--hard to tell, but the others look like they're in-game and they look very good.)

All I can say is: Thank you Anaconda!!! Using the two screens to control the two protagonists to figure out puzzles? Very very cool. Hopefully more developers (esp. adventure developers) will figure out how to best take advantage of the incredibly wonderful interface that the DS provides!

Sounds fun. Adventure gaming back on the rise?

I am certainly hoping so. With the advent of the DS and the upcoming Wii and the terrific interface possibilities they provide, I think that there will be a lot of clever developers that will be looking to take advantage and adventure gaming is one of the genres that will be able to benefit most from such innovations.

Sounds good to me. I'm looking forward to the point-and-inevitable-clicks that the Wii will have to offer. Especially if there is one that uses the DS too. The DS can be used to take a closer look at objects, and turn them over in your hands. I wouldn't mind having to use two controllers for the sake of immersion. But it could of course be played sans DS.
