Audio Illusion

Very simple the sound is composed of two waves an octave apart. The video plays creeping up one octave. When replayed, our brains carry on the lower portion at the end as the higher portion in the beginning, which are the same. Something involving the EQ on each wave is going on too.

Actually, the very first time I heard it, I didn't hear it continue. It sounded like it restarting. If you think about it, you can break the illusion that way.

Edit: Damn you Ennui and your wikipedia.

I did my best to figure it out on my own ;(
I didn't think it would be as simple as volume fading.

pointy headed science guy wins again, thanks :E

Oh jeeeesus christ. The greater illusion there: that he actually has some meaningful commentary to add instead of just making me want to gnaw my own skull in boredom.

Pretty cool otherwise, but you can see the nose going in pretty easily if you concentrate. The audio one didn't really get me, would probably be more effective if it looped on it's own.

If you try, you cant hear the same tone intead of the sherparhd drop

Hey I just realised, in the OP illusion, isn't the same thing employed when you are running up the endless staircase in Mario 64?

Pretty cool, but I broke out of it after 30 seconds or so...
