maybe i just missed it, but is there a command to take off auto switch.

im not asking for the quick weapon switch command.

I would like to bump this because I too want to know how to get rid of it. I don't like it at all.

its so annoying when ie.. you have crossbow and a clear shot and you step on the shotgun and it auto-switches.. or is it the other way around. anyway, i do it fine manually any other time so, i would also like to know how. ;(

I've had this auto-change ****ing thing change to an empty gun. I'd really like a fix for this!
 
yes.. autochange is for noobs... and why does the quickswitch (q) command *ever* switch to the gravgun, surely that is what phys_swap (g) is for.. it makes it impossible to use the two buttons in tandem. (i.e. if you use shotty, then machiny, followed by gravgun, then both Q and G do the exact same thing!) someone should get a ball stamping for that one. :E
 
*bump* this annoys the shit out of me as well. i hate when im about to come up behind someone with the shotgun and blow their brains out, then i step on a gun i dont want to use and it pops up!

still no joy. This is unbelievable. I emailed valve but suprise suprise, no responce. Has only been a week though.

27 views and 4 posts, if you want it changed sign it. once theres enough people I'll refer the makers to the site. It may do nothing, but it will do more than sitting here and moaning.
 
The only thing I've found so far that even sounds like it COULD remotely have anything to do with this issue is a console command called "picker". It says that it toggles "picker" mode, but doesn't say what "picker" mode is. I'm not at home so I can't try it...
 
I forgot to update this post. Picker mode is some kind of debugging or development thing. Has nothing to do with what we're trying to do.

I have emailed Steam too, now we just wait.

its because the gravity button has its own all together, giving you a choice of 3 instead of limiting you to 2 weaons.
i have said it a million times though, BIND YOUR KEYS, fast weapon switch is the key.

I sent one to the email on the official site. That was weeks ago. I still cant believe they failed to give this option, it's pretty much standard in fps games is it not?
 
I'm at work right now so I can't test this, but someone on the Steam forum is saying to go to options...keyboard....advanced and there is an option for it. Can anyone verify this?
 
That person is an idiot. That's where you enable fastweapon switch and the console.

Anyway, autoswitch doesn't bother me.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound sassy. I just found it odd that you chose to include the random useless tidbit of information about how it doesn't bother you...in a thread trying to figure out how to disable it because it DOES bother us.
 
This is ridiculous. I feel to send them a thousand emails saying sort it out. I still have no reply. And I still see no fix for this. WTF?
