anyone know the command to start with texture detail high and model detail high i thought it ould have been mat_(something) but cant find nothin.

I guess while your waiting for an answer, go into your configs, look them over, then go into options before entering a game and set all your video settings to high, it will say something in console but that just might be that it is writing to your config file, then just go into your config file and see what has changed......

Just use the video options menu, it will save your configuration as far as video settings go. ;)

Uhm anytime i try to change video settings it crashes to desktop and i have allready set mat_bumpmap 1 it enables bumpmap but doesnt increase the texture detail.

can someone change their texture detail and look for the command in their config files please i need this.

Actually texture detail and stuff doesn't happen appear in the cfg file unless you put it there yourself :|

Make a backup of your current config.cfg file and then delete the one in use, launch CS:S and let it create a new one for you. Then try to change the video settings, see if that works.

For more support try the Steam Forums :)

what do i need to put in there to have gigh texture detail

If it crashes then you have a more serious problem.... Explain ""IT CRASHES" in more detail like does it crash when your in a game changing the settings, does it crash when your in beta screen options doing the changes, what error message does it give you when it crashes. Let's fix your crashing problem first then work on your config....

Uhm it crashes when i try to change my video settings....the screen freezes and after a while i get an error message sayin sumthing abou the memory can not be "read".

Add this to your command line:

-heapsize 256 or 512 (half the value of your ram)

See if it helps.

need more info forgotten like when did this start? Does it crash when you try to change the settings during a game or just during the options screen on the front beta load page>?

This only started happenin after an update not sure which one but when the beta first came out i could change any settings without a crash and i have made no significant system changes since then

what are you system specs?
Also you might of downloaded a malicious file and ya you might need to delete and dl all the source info again. It will take a while but o well.

k ima gonna reinstall cs:source i deleted all content of Source (Cache files, registry, steam folders etc) Defragmented and cleaned the c:\ drive and am downloading Cs:source now so if i install it all should be fine....hopefully :) Thanks for the help.
