I found a loophole in the P2p thingy. What stopping people from just paying for the first month of it, then canceling? I mean $10 copy of Hl2 instead of going to pay $50 for the same thing. unless they revoke the usefullness of the CD ur useing.......But then u will still have single player which is still saving u $25 instead of $35 or whatever the price is in store.

The subscription is like "renting the game", so if you stop paying, you stop playing, no loophole

You'll probably have to cancel the account through Steam and then it will automatically stop you from accessing the content.

If you stop the subscription the game will be deleted methinks.

i don't think they'll actually let you download the game to your harddisk when using steam...
maybe parts of it, but it probably won't be executable.
something like that.

That doesnt mean they un-install the game from ur head drive, its still there.Duh

its been said that It will probably be like a 6 month or a year subscription so you end up paying for the game within a year. Sounds plausable to me.

you wont play multiplayer that way

you probably will get sick of the single player with no mods anyways

Half-Life 2 will pwn, but the only good mods they made was op4, TFC 2 and Blue Shift...............well we all know where that went heheh

*EDIT* Meaning i probably wont subscribe

i thought this was a thread about some cool new pirates mod coming out lol

they will most likely lock you in for a certain period of time. not just one month.

plus once you stop paying they aren't going to let you continue playing :\

Well, if HL2 is delivered anything like HL1 off of steam (which it will) then the game will be downloaded to the hardrive but only executable through the steam program, which would not let you play if you stopped playing.

But after the game is installed in its entirety (which it must be, you'd have to be an idiot to think the game could be streamed through a regular broadband connection, unless it delets parts of the game you've already played which also makes no sense) someone, somewhere, will create an exe to use all of the downloaded data and launch the game without steam.

Sorry, but hackers and pirates will always find a way, it will just take some time.

In order to play HL2 from a downloaded copy you need to be logged into steam. Yes, even for single-player. Either put the cd-rom in the drive or log on to steam, there is no other way.

Plus, when you play HL2 online it will not download every level at once, but download it level by level as you go.
