Avatar alien?

Avatar is easily my most anticipated upcoming film, even more so than Dark Knight. Cameron has never failed impress me with his movies. In fact, I've watched said movies more times than any other others. I'm also looking forward to seeing his new fusion 3D camera system in action.

it dont looks so interesting honestly, but that dont make my hopes go down

I was worried as **** that this would be an alien remake when I read the title.

Really looking forward to this film and the technology employed.

The only film I am looking forward to besides Cloverfield. It's about time James finally got around to doing the movie. :)

Tollbooth, you realize Cloverfield is going to be a human drama, and they'll probably NEVER directly show the monster?

So? It still looks great. Are you so brainwashed by traditional cinema that you need to see the monster in order to enjoy the movie? I'm not, and I wouldn't care either way. There are a lot of other things happening in the movie than just the monster itself, which we've seen in the trailers.

From what I've seen so far it safe to say you're right...

No, I don't necesarly need to see the damn monster, if the story and acting are good enough I will enjoy it. However what I have A BIG problem with is the whole amateur shoulder cam filming style... :dozey: It just pisses me off

As for the topic at hand

I'd hit it

On a more serious note, I find the "alien that looks like a human but with minor differences" concept that is so often used in sci-fi ridiculous. I mean what the hell is the problem, it's not like it was in the past where film makers were restricted to using puppetry and actors in costumes anymore. With today's technology they could easily make an alien as crazy looking as they wanted.

thats like playing halflife whitout combat or something like that

the point is not that the monster wouldnt be shown, the point is that there will be only people runing around all the time and instead of making a storyline it will be allways adding "more mistery" cuz the director thinks he is the new Hitchcock or something like that, just like lost which instead of make a storyline they just trow stuff at it to make "moar mysterious!"

Considering the central mechanic Avatar works around (aliens manifesting themselves through human possession), I don't think we can draw anything concrete from this picture. This may be an example of a possessed human for all we know.

But even if that's not the case, I'm not against the idea of humanoid aliens in principle. Yes, they can often come off as schlocky and even cheesy. But when done well, they work just fine. Case in point: Mass Effect. Even a lot of Star Wars. StarCraft too. Space opera in general has a lot of them, and they wouldn't work half as much of the time if they didn't.

Titanic in Space!
All the **** he does is documentaries of the sea and the ****ing Titanic.
I've lost respect for this guy after he ditched The Terminator franchise and left it to be crapped all over by some two bit hacks.

Yeah, I find it rather shocking, especially since the whole Terminator story was his idea to begin with.

Quite honestly I'm amazed he DID two Terminator movies. He's not a guy to stick around with a series. (See Aliens etc).

FYI, the rights to the Terminator franchise were acquired by Linda Hamilton in their divorce, and she subsequently sold them off. So you can't blame him for its current state.

I don't see any point in hating the guy because he developed a hardcore deep sea fetish. It seems to be out of his system enough now that he's actually make a movie again.
