I have some high quality AVI's that I captured from my Digital Video Camera using Windows movie maker. I want to put these on a DVD that I can play in a DVD player. What do I need to do to make this? what kind of files do they need to be made into?

I found this guide http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/avi_to_dvd_avi2dvd.cfm

Is there any better/easier ways of doing this. I also plan on using a prog. called sonic my DVD to make it with.

any kind info on this would be appreciated since i've never made a playable DVD

Adobe Encore DVD does the best job, but you have to pay a high price to obtain this program (still there's other ways to get it...). Otherwise, you can basically use any of the free programs that are shared out.

But if you really want a well-done job, use Adobe Encore DVD.

Thats what I use. You dont need the hardware, but it comes with some really really nice software that lets you make dvds, and menus for the dvd, along with intro scenes and backround music. The hardware it comes with is the main purpose of it though, it allows you to take vhs tapes and put them into a digital file on your computer (thus making it possible to transfer them to dvd).

Thanks for the help guys. I just used This Sonic My DVD prog. to put it all together, real easy, pretty much does all the work. The menu looks like this: http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/4460/untitled6xw1.jpg

I have another question. I recorded a concert and the audio recorded from the camera isn't all that good. I am going to hopefully be getting a recording from another camera that is alot better. What kind of program would I use to put audio over a video so I can put the two together? know what I mean?

Windows Movie Maker allows you to do it, although it's not the best program you could use. Those programs will probably do the job, but you usualy download them in a trial version:
