Avoiding these forums at all costs: My Nov 16th Story

Despite the embarrasing number of times I check this site every day, come release I will be staying the hell away from these forums.

The spoilers (fake or otherwise) are rampant, and once the game is out and the difference between 'conversation' and 'spoiler' blurs, I don't want to be in here. With a fulltime job, university courses and a girlfriend to keep me away from the game (an no, none are worth dropping, even for HL2) it will take me much longer to beat than many of the 13-year-old jobless web kiddies (you know who you are!). I would be so pissed if I found out some intensly cool plot twist by a random reference in a forum thread, intentional or not.

It will be hard, like quitting cold turkey on a drug I've become so addicted to...

Yeah, I do check this site almost religiously, even though I know there isn't any new info. The game comes out on the 16th. Its just a waiting game.

I would have preferred a "its gold, and shipping tomorrow."

same here man, juggling a job, a girlfriend and hl2 is gonna be hard, but i wouldnt drop any for hl2.

What was the point of this thread again?

A much-too-subtle attempt to create a discussion including any combination of spoiler-avoidance strategies, dependance or addictive qualities of highly-anticipated software news forums or determination of users with similar beliefs or tendencies as myself.

However, the result was a slightly colder response leading to the topic of post-counts and forum membership lengths, and their direct relation to the value of a member's opinion.

Little did I know that I had to post every time I visited, regardless of whether I had anything to add or not in order to avoid a derogatory tag.

Clearly, I was also unaware that I should only post "me too!" until I have what is considered an acceptable number of posts for me to be opinionated and, God forbid, start my own thread.

p.s. cant wait for this game I bought the silver pack on steam .. just hope it doesnt suffer from the memory error I keep getting in CS :Source :/
