Ok so i've been having motherboard problems.
I tired to start up my computer yesterday but it wouldn't go. It looked as if it was on but nothing on the screen. So I make sure all the wires are in, nothing really helps.

So I figure I'll finally replace that crappy fan, not working fan on my motherboard(A8N-SLI), I find a site that says you can grease it a little, which would make it work better(for now. I noticed that the fan was very tight).

So when I took my computer apart got it off, regreased the damn fan, and put it back on...it wont start up.

I used the same screws as I did before, I tried reseting CMOS, all the basically happens is the fans will spin for a second..no beeps then the fans stop spinning and nothing happens....

I built this computer myself (A8N-SLI, 3500+, 7800GTX), it was running a tad hot when playing guild wars(60) cuz the mb chipset fan died, but when I came home my computer should of been running at a steady 53(10 hotter than with the fan).

Anything else I should check? I'll go over to make sure theres no grounding issues(my guess on what it is), I probably overlooked something...if you have any other ideas please post em.

I had a similar problem, press on button the lights come on and fans spin for half a second then it dies. It was happening because i tried to turn it on too quickly. What i had to do was leave it switched on (at the wall) for a few minutes before pressing the on button. Make sure to turn it off at the wall for at least 5 seconds between attempts or else it might turn on without posting.

basically the cpu is doing a power check acorss al your system compnenents,

and its ifnding somhething thta is ouputting incorrect power levels,

this happened to me when i ever so slightly damaged a fan, what you do it, open your case up and unplug everything so get rid of floppy drives, cd drives hard drive fans, so its jsut bare compnets n see if it spins up
then try conencting the hdd and try again

this way you will single out the in operative components

however, it may also be that you have a fried cpu as this also happend when i managed to toast my axp 4200

I got it working, I just loosened some screws, and moved some of the unused cords to a different area(I took all the unused ones out and started up my case and it worked).

So thx anyway, My computer runs just like it should :) It's back at 48-50 degrees (where it oringally was). :).

Anyway thanks. All my fan problems(for now, though im gonna get a passive heatsink), are gone.
