Backing up Half life 2 Save files

To anyone who reads this,
Since I am in the middle of the Half Life 2 Game (I just got to "Follow Freeman") and I need to reformat my computer, I have to find a way to back up my Half Life 2 Save files. I found the files themselves in the steam folder, but I have a suspicion that I need to do something else. Can someone provide me a walkthrough on how to back up the files so I can put them onto a CD\DVD to put onto the reformatted computer later on?

Give google a try.

Just make a copy of the entire 'SAVE' folder and keep it safe.

Remember, if you bought HL2 via Steam to make a back up disc. This is easy enough and will save you having to download 5GB of it again. Right-click on the HL2 icon in the Steam 'My Games' list and then click 'Backup game files...' and follow instructions.

Once you've re-installed, just copy and paste the 'SAVE' folder you backed up earlier. Whenasked if you want to replace the existing folder, just say yes.
