backing up steam games

if i back up my .gcfs and copy it to my new comp's steam directory will i be able to see al the games as normal?

Yeah, I've done this from my work-home pc. I copied the entire steam folder, but I think just doing the .gcf's would be fine

It works great. I've done this a couple of times. If you're installing steam on another computer:
- start the steaminstaller
- login to your existing account
- let steam update
- exit steam
- copy all the backed up .gcf files into your /steamapps folder
- start steam
- Voilá! All your games are back
